Here is another fine example of the famous "Bell Portable" range from the Torwood foundry of Jones & Campbell.
As with all of my restorations this range has been completely dismantled and every individual part has been blasted, cleaned and inspected. All repairs have been carried out and any parts that are not serviceable have been replaced with new castings.
The oven has been replace and with thicker cold drawn sheet steel so it is fit for service for years to come. Two new oven trays are also included. I have also replaced the back and sides with sheet steel double the thickness of the original. This has been finished in high temperature paint.
All joints have been sealed so this little range will draw properly and not leak.
The ash pan has been replaced and new firestones have been fitted.
The flue box has been converted to receive a modern 5" flue pipe with the correct fitting to suit HETAS regulations.
The range has been finished in a traditional black lead (lead free) polish to give it the authentic appearance of a period cooking range.
All in all this range is ready for a fire to be lit!
